OK, I'm back but I don't know for how long.
Pointless
So, I write a blog about how useless it is to reply to political blog entries and I get blasted with political replies. And then I foolishly spend all night answering them. Of course, the results was as I expected. Nobody convinced anybody of anything, we finally all got frustrated (or sleepy) and left.
Let me clear some things up, however. I did make a couple of mistakes yesterday.
I said that usually only those who agree with you come to your blog and reply. I forgot that liberals will gladly come onto conservative blogs and reply. And that is absolutely their right. If I don't want them to I can turn replies off. Conservatives, on the other hand, seem to come to the same conclusion I did and realize that it does little good to reply on liberal blogs. So it's liberal blogs which seem to have only liberal replies.
My second mistake was using the word belief rather than faith. It's just that the word belief works so much better in sentences than faith. It's easier to say "A belief is..." rather than "A faith is.." You have to have completely different sentence construction. Anyway, what I meant by belief here is something which one believes is true without the existence of evidence either for or against.
One of the people who wrote me concluded our pointless argument suggesting that my reality was too confining, that I should open my mind and "feel" his words. All I can say is that I don't find my reality confining and I find that it matches objective reality closer than his reality does. And no, I don't want to open my mind to allow in what I preceive as untruths any more than he does. He no more wants to think that I might be right than I want to think he might be. And I will always want to UNDERSTAND words. The only thing I can figure out that "feeling" his words could mean is to understand the emotion, the passion, the inherent ideal "truth" which is hidden in them.
Anyway, I won't do that again. All I can say is that I am developing a text file which I will copy in when I need to reply to a political reply. That way I can save myself a lot of time in the future. And this is what it will say.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I understand this issue has great emotional impact for you. Please accept our generic reply in the spirit in which it is given.
1) Since time travel has not yet be achieved, to discuss what might have been or even what should have been is irrelevant. We cannot change what happened and I doubt we would agree how they should be changed if we could. If things have been done in the past with which you do not agree, please see 2) below for retification.
2) Since neither of us is in a position of such authority that we can materially affect the government actions, it is pointless to discuss what should be done to rectify the situation which exists at this time. And, given our differences, it is doubtful that we could come to an understanding of what that rectification would be. If you wish to have an effect on the future, however, see 3) below for instructions.
3) Since events in the future have not yet been fully determined, they are difficult to discuss. Also, since there are so many opinions as to what should occur, I can say, without question, that I do not agree with you about that. Your best bet for achievement of your aims in the future is to enter politics, run for office, devote your life to this arcane field, and in 30 or 40 years you may have the authority to do what you want. Of course, what you want will have changed by then. If you do not wish to adopt such a grueling course, see 4) below.
4) Thank you for visiting my blog. I understand this issue has great emotional impact for you. Thank you for accepting our generic reply in the spirit in which it is given. Good day.
